☆ Charlie Sabatino, JD, American Bar Association, renowned elder law expert and director of the ABA's Commission on Law & Aging, cuts through the hype and brings attendees up to date on how healthcare reform may alter the way Americans deal with end of life issues. Mr. Sabatino, a member of the National POLST Paradigm Initiative Task Force, also examines the policy and practice of advance care planning and how it is evolving.
☆ Betty Ferrell, Research Scientist at the City of Hope Medical Center will discuss why addressing individual spiritual needs is key to providing quality palliative care. Providing quality end of life spiritual care enables individuals to better understand and interpret what it means to be human, to appreciate the significance of one’s life, and bring closure.
☆ Explore the broad policy and turn-key culture change practices for assisting nursing homes in caring for residents at the end of life.
Discover the impact that culture has on the meaning of health, illness, and dying.
